In the early 1970s, Dana Bourgeois set out to solve a centuries-old challenge in acoustic guitar design: how to maintain precise neck angle and long-term serviceability without compromising tone. The result was his proprietary detachable neck joint, a revolutionary system that became a hallmark of Bourgeois guitars.
Unlike traditional dovetail joints, Danaās design allows for accurate, repeatable neck angle adjustments without steaming, cutting, or guesswork. Today, after nearly 50 years of refinement, this system continues to define every Bourgeois instrument, including the Professional Series. Paired with a graphite-reinforced, double action truss rod, it ensures unmatched stability, precision playability, and effortless maintenance.
